Art: Actors read excerpts from Citizen Min, a play-in-development about Oregonian civil rights activist Minoru Yasui who is most famous for his protest of the curfew imposed on Japanese Americans in Portland-OR during WWII.

Dialogue: Discussion by community leaders about Minoru Yasui’s impact on civil rights, immigration, and national security policies — then and now.

Light refreshments served following readings and discussion.

Citizen Min is authored by Holly Yasui. Dramaturgy by Nikki Nojima Louis. Direction by Chisao Hata.

Never Give Up: An Evening of Art and Dialogue was made possible in collaboration with the Minoru Yasui Tribute Project, the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon, and the Oregon Nikkei Endowment.
